How You Can Help

The main ways to help are by volunteering, and donations.

Currently, St. Lucy has twelve nannies on payroll to take care babies in the nursery in six to eight hour shifts. With an increasing number of newborns, and in international adoptions, the demands of the nursery's resources, and the nannys' workloads has grown. The original one room nursery has been expanded into four rooms: One room serving as the new born room, one small room serves as isolation room for babies with cold or flu, and two large rooms are for the older babies.

In addition, one more nanny has been added per shift, three nursing interns have been added to each daytime shift, and several social worker interns have been added to provide services to the unwed mothers' home and the nursery.

We are excited to announce in July of 2002, St. Lucy center was able to improve nursery rooms by adding individual air conditioning units, individual sinks and cabinets. The St. Lucy office has been expanded to add more staff, computers, and office equipment to better serve the increased demands of unwed mothers, adoptive parents and the general public.

In addition, donations to St. Lucy have been drastically decreased due to economic downturns in Taiwan. But with helps and donations from adoptive parents, and from volunteers, we were able to address the increased demands of nursery's resources, as well as temporarily reduce the workloads of the social workers and nannies with minimum increase in adoption cost.

We would appreciate any donation to help us maintain the quality of care and number of staffs. Please send your donation to:

St. Lucy Center, 85 Sheng Li Road, 2F Tainan, Taiwan, R.O.C.

Dedicated doctors, nurses and local people have volunteered in the nursery. We can always use more hands in caring of these wonderful little angels.

To protect the safety and privacy of the unwed mothers, abused women and their children, the unwed mother home and the emergency shelter are not opened to the public and volunteers.

To help us ensure the safety and care of the babies in the nursery, please CONTACT ST. LUCY CENTER directly for volunteering information.
